“Our state has the most participants, more than 1600, so it is extremely competitive,” said HCOE History Day Coordinator Tiffany Bullman. “Any student that makes it into the finals should be very proud of themselves.”

To reach this prestigious platform, students had to first compete against some of the brightest minds on the North Coast and win at the county level.

Each spring, students in fourth grade through high school compete in the Humboldt County History Day contest, held at Cal Poly Humboldt and hosted by the Humboldt County Office of Education (HCOE).

There, ECS students won in seven categories: Junior Individual Documentaries, Junior Group Documentaries, Junior Individual Exhibits, Junior Group Exhibits, Junior Group Performances, Junior Individual Podcast, and Junior Group Podcast.

Students who attend those coaching opportunities are eligible for travel scholarships.

ECS would like to congratulate all of the students on their incredible achievements. We also acknowledge the teachers, parents/guardians, and HCOE staff who helped students with their projects and facilitated the travel and logistics of the trip.

The future looks bright for these students, and we are excited to see what they accomplish next!
