School Schedule Change Notice

Important Information for Students & Families:

On June 25th, the Board of Trustees moved the first day of school from Wednesday, August 19th, to Monday, August 24th. The first day of school was adjusted to allow for three Professional Development days to be moved from within the school year to the beginning of the school year. We did this to allow for planning and training of staff members to adjust to our learning plans for next year. (Staff development days scheduled on the previously adopted calendar throughout the 2020-21 school year will now be regular school days.)

As indicated in the District’s update on June 9th, Eureka City Schools is planning for three possible options for the upcoming school year: Plan A (traditional face-to-face instruction), Plan B (socially distanced learning between groups of students - T/Th, W/F, alternating Mondays) or Plan C (distance learning). Winzler Children’s Center will be talking with their families separately about their plans. Zoe Barnum High School will have an AM/PM schedule where students will attend school every day for ½ the day. We will have options available for your students if you choose to keep them home for distance learning.

Due to daily changes relating to Covid-19 in our State and community, we have yet to determine whether we will be on Plan A, B, or C. This determination will be made under the advice of the State and Humboldt County Department of Public Health. Once we have determined which plan we will be on, we will send out a communication to our families.
