Eureka High School Players Present Pippin
- Published: Monday, March 22, 2010
Due to earthquake damageto their auditorium, EHS Players went seeking a playing space for their most lavish musical in years: Pippin. Eureka Theater to the rescue! The Eureka Theater non-profit board stepped forward to offer their grand landmark for the staging of Pippin.
The young prince Pippin longs to discover the secret of true happiness and fulfillment. He seeks it in the glories of the battlefield, the temptations of the flesh, the intrigues of political power, and the pleasures of home and family. Does he ever find his “corner of the sky?”
This hip, tongue-in-cheek, anachronistic fairy tale captivated Broadway audiences and continues to appeal to the young at heart everywhere. The energetic pop-music score by Oscar-winning composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz (“Wicked” “Godspell,” “Children of Eden” and the animated films “Pocahontas,” “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” and “The Prince of Egypt”) bursts with one show stopping number after another, from soaring ballads to infectious dance numbers.
Don’t miss the sumptuous sets, the alluring costumes, the spectacular dancing, and the rousing singing of the EHS Players. This promises to be our most ambitious show in many years: “We’ve got magic to do, just for you” at the landmark art deco Eureka Theater!
