ECS is Seeking Volunteers for Educational Foundation Board
- Published: Thursday, March 19, 2009
The Eureka City Schools (ECS) Board of Education invites community members to apply for appointment to the ECS Educational Foundation Board. Recent budget cuts at the state and federal level have illustrated the need for a reliable funding source for the special programs that make up the unique educational experience at ECS schools. The Foundation Board will operate independently of the ECS Board of Education, working with the community to identify valued programs and projects and raising funds to support them.
The initial board will consist of seven members including one teacher/retired teacher, one business owner, one parent/guardian or grandparent of a K-12 ECS student and four at-large members. The Board will be responsible for building the Foundation's organizational structure including fundraising and allocation strategies. Funds raised will be deposited with the Humboldt Area Foundation. This is an opportunity for strong, dedicated and creative individuals to make a difference in the education of our community's most important resource: our children.
Applications will be available at Eureka City Schools District Office, 3200 Walford Avenue, Eureka, beginning Thursday, May 22nd. The application period will be from May 22, 2008 through June 6, 2008. The ECS Foundation Board is scheduled to be appointed by the ECS Board of Education at the June 21, 2008 board meeting.
