New Principal at Eureka High Announced

Eureka City Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Joseph Pawlick as the new principal of Eureka High School.
Dr. Pawlick comes to the Eureka area with a diverse background of over 10 years as a high school site administrator and 6 years as a superintendent-principal. Dr. Pawlick has also worked as a Director of Program Improvement and Director of Special Education. Dr. Pawlick graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science degree and received his masters and doctorate from the University of Southern California.
Some of Dr. Pawlick's accomplishments include assisting in Program Improvement of Salinas High School where the school was recognized by the State of California for its API test score improvements and the reduction of its high school drop-out rate. As an administrator at Westlake High School, Dr. Pawlick developed a program that was recognized as a California Distinguished School and a National Top 100 High School.
Dr. Pawlick is replacing Robert Steffen who has accepted the principal position at Rancho-Cotate High School. Mr. Steffen has provided Eureka City Schools with his leadership for 19 years, serving 6 of those years as the Eureka High School Principal. Eureka City Schools thanks Mr. Steffen for his excellent years of service and wishes him all the success in his new position.
