Get ready for an incredible 2024-2025 school year at Eureka City Schools!
On Wednesday, August 14, 2024, we had an amazing staff back-to-school professional development day that kicked off with an inspiring morning session led by Superintendent Gary Storts.
The theme for the day was "You Belong at Eureka City Schools," and we are super excited to incorporate this theme throughout the school year.
Our staff gained valuable insights into the significance of belonging and its impact on academic success. They also learned strategies to foster a sense of belonging for both students and staff within school culture.
We were honored to have Dr. Rosamel S. Benavides-Garb, the Associate Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Cal Poly Humboldt, as our Keynote Speaker. Thank you, Dr. Benavides-Garb, for your insightful and empowering words.
And that's not all – we also had an incredible Belonging Panel featuring ECS staff members. EHS P.E. Teacher Garett Montana, EHS Campus Supervisor Mike Pregler, Grant Elementary Restorative Practices Support Specialist Diana Fuentes-Zittel, and Washington Elementary Fourth-Grade Teacher Sarah Fox shared personal stories and experiences that were truly inspiring.
It was an unforgettable day of growth, and we’re excited to carry this momentum into the new school year. Remember, YOU BELONG AT EUREKA CITY SCHOOLS!
