Today has been another rapidly evolving day with issues related to planning for the coronavirus. We are continuing to be proactive in our efforts to plan for potential school closures. At this point, we still have no known students for staff with the coronavirus and we are continuing to work closely with the Humboldt County Department of Public Health. On Monday, we will have no school due to a planned professional development day for teachers.

Eureka City Schools is Now Accepting Applications for Kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten Registration. During this Open Enrollment period applications for Intradistrict Requests for the 2020 – 2021 school year are also available!

All current and prospective students and families are invited to attend open house events! Not available the night of a scheduled Open House? Please contact the school site directly to schedule a personal tour!

As I am sure you are all aware, there is a PSPS (Public Safety Power Shutdown) planned to take place sometime tomorrow (Saturday, October 26th) mid to late morning. We have been advised to plan for a minimum of no power through Monday, more likely Tuesday, and possibly even through Wednesday.

Eureka City Schools continues to monitor the situation and will make the needed adjustments for the safety of all students. As of right now, all sites are open for a normal school day.

At its regularly scheduled meeting on October 1, 2019 at 6:30 p.m., the Eureka City Schools Governing Board will hold a public hearing to receive public comment on the determination of whether each pupil in the District has sufficient textbooks or instructional materials, or both, in each subject consistent with the content and cycles of the curriculum framework adopted by the State Board of Education.

Please note that Monday, September 16th is a professional development day for Eureka City Schools’ faculty and administration. There will be no classes held on Monday.

Summer break is drawing to an end, and it is time to start thinking about the first day of school. I hope you had the opportunity for some relaxation during the summer, as well as time to enjoy friends and family. The first day of school is Wednesday, August 21st, and our staff is eager to welcome your student(s) for the new school year.

Parents/guardians need to register students in person. Bring documents to the District Office or the appropriate school office

The Humboldt Math Festival is celebrating its twelfth annual "Community Celebration of Mathematics" on April 6th 12:00 to 4:00 at the Adorni Center in Eureka.

Eighteen sophomore AP World History students from Eureka High competed at Humboldt County History Day on Saturday, March 9.

For the past thirty years, Eureka City Schools has been a changing school district. Here on the North Coast, the timber industry has had a large impact on our economy, both positive and negative. While there have been several other large industries critical to our economy, timber is arguably what put the greater Eureka area on the map and drove our building and population.

Eureka City Schools has now published its Annual Update to the Community.
