Kindergarten Priority Registration

January 3, 2017 – January 24, 2017
Kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten
Priority Registration Dates

Eureka City Schools is ready to help register your child for the start of their academic future! Registration for the 2017-2018 school year begins January 3, 2017 and runs through January 24rd for priority enrollment. You may register your child at your neighborhood school during the Open Enrollment period, or at our District Office year round – 2100 J Street in Eureka. Enrollment is not first-come, first-served. For priority consideration of your school of choice, completed applications need to be received by January 24rd.

Our kindergarten program includes class sizes of 23 or fewer students and no combination classes. Our district schools will feature “Transitional Kindergarten” only classes. Only students eligible for the Transitional Kindergarten program will be enrolled into these classes. This opportunity to have a full day program specifically designed for just our youngest learners will give an extra layer of support before they start the kindergarten program.

Children who are five years old on or before September 1 are eligible to enroll in our Kindergarten program to begin kindergarten. Children who turn five after September 1 and before December 3rd are eligible for Transitional Kindergarten.

The first day of school is August 28.

You are welcome in our schools! Look at the Eureka City Schools school boundary maps to determine which school your children will attend. If you need additional assistance call (707) 441-3383 and provide your residence address. Children may be enrolled at their neighborhood school weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a parent or guardian present during the Open Enrollment period.

The following items must be presented upon registration:

  • The child's birth certificate or other proof of age, such as a passport or hospital record of birth.
  • Proof of residence in the attendance area, such as a rent receipt, utility bill or property tax statement.
  • Immunization records indicating current Polio, DPT (diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus), MMR (mumps, measles and rubella), Hepatitis B, and Varicella (chickenpox).
