Our Programs

Eureka City Schools offers one preschool program, for children ages 3 to 5, at Winzler Children's Center, and two after-school programs at Alice Birney and Lincoln Elementary Schools for grades kindergarten through 3rd grade. All programs operate year-round.

Parent Involvement:
We actively encourage parent participation in our program. Our Open Door Policy encourages parent visitation at any time. Daily schedules are posted so parents can see what is happening in each classroom. Parent conferences are provided on a regular basis. Parents are also encouraged to attend social events.

Special Services:
Special Services are available through referrals and services are provided on-site: Speech and Language, Health and Nursing Services, Vision and Hearing Screening, Special Needs Children

Program Cost:

  • No cost or low cost: Based on a sliding scale
  • Special consideration to: At-risk and homeless children
  • Full cost: Available to any income family
  • Usually no waiting period

We accept payment from: Humboldt Child Care Council, Redwood Coast Regional Center or any other agency.

Enrollment Procedures:
Call 441-2498 for information and pick up an application at the Winzler Children's Center, 717 Creighton Street in Eureka. Complete the forms and return them to us. You will be placed immediately on the waiting list and will be enrolled as soon as space is available.
