Eureka High congratulates the December 8th winners of the EHS Poetry Out Loud competition. Twelve EHS students in 9th through 12th grades put on a remarkable show in the school's auditorium. Each student had memorized and recited some of their favorite poetry. At the conclusion of the event, EHS sophomore Catherine Holper emerged as champion. She recited "Art vs. Trade" by James Weldon Johnson and "Personal" by Tony Hoagland. The runners up were freshman Marina Benson and senior Helaina Stillman.
EHS invites the community to come out and support Catherine and Marina at the Humboldt County Regional contest at the Morris Graves Museum of Art at 10 a.m. on January 28th, where Catherine will vie for EHS's third consecutive regional title!
