3rd Annual Poetry Out Loud Competition at Eureka High School
- Published: Monday, December 5, 2016
It is my pleasure to announce the finals of Eureka High School’s 3rd annual Poetry Out Loud competition. Poetry Out Loud is a national competition sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation that has been running since 2006. Each year, Poetry Out Loud awards more than $50,000 in prizes and school stipends at the national level.
Last year’s winner, Cory McCubbrey, went on to represent EHS at the state finals in Sacramento, where he finished in the top 12. We are equally excited about our chances this year! This year roughly ten students will compete in the EHS finals this Wednesday, December 7th, from 4 to 6 pm in the EHS auditorium. Wednesday’s winner will represent EHS at the regional finals to be held Saturday, January 28th, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Morris Graves Museum of Art, where they will compete against students from other local schools for a trip to the state finals.
